Farm and area experiences
On Farm experiences
Duckmaloi Farm offers a variety of onsite experiences and attractions for guests of all ages.
- Duckmaloi farm has excellent facilities for children, young and old to interact with farm animals. Our animals include ponies, donkeys, alpacas, deer, sheep, goats, and cattle. We have a duck pond inside a guest friendly enclosure with a variety of ducks and chooks. The kids are encouraged to collect eggs to take back to your cottage for breakfast. There are geese and turkeys and lots of peacocks that roam the gardens. In a separate child friendly enclosure we have rabbits and guinea pigs, ideal for younger children. In the feed shed you will find bins stocked with carrots, grain and chaff. There are walkways between paddocks from where the other animals can be fed safely.
- a full size tennis court, rackets and balls can be found in the adjoining feed shed. The court also has a basket ball hoop.
- Children’s playground with swings and slippery dips, trampoline, and cubby house with a seating area for adults.
- The Shed is a great communal facility. The country style building is fully enclosed and has BBQ, cooking and recreation facilities. There is a long dining table that seats 8 plus and is ideal for birthday celebrations and family reunions. There is a slow burning wood stove (wood supplied) and comfortable couches to sit and watch TV or listen to music, a peaceful spot for an afternoon nap.
- Karawina Drive is the old Oberon road that now ends at the old bridge down at Duckmaloi River, about a 20 minute walk, a meandering country road “track” down through natural Australian bush to a public reserve. Down at the river you might spot a platypus especially in the early morning or late afternoon. Duckmaloi River has an excellent reputation with trout fishermen.
- Extensive wildlife at your doorstep, it is common to see a mob of Kangaroos moving through the paddocks. You will see Wallabies, Echidnas, Wombats and lots and lots of native birds.
- Gardens and lawn areas are well maintained and there are many private spots to simply enjoy peace and privacy at Duckmaloi Farm.
- The horse arena offers a great vantage point to look out across the country side towards Mount Bindo and to watch the cattle grazing close by.
- It is a unique experience to wander through our oak grove, a truffiere under development with some 600 developing English Oak trees.
